It is subjectively well known that people who use Kratom are generally very healthy, and also Kratom users rarely get sick. Now there is some scientific evidence which may explain why this is the case.

A scientific study titled ‘Characterization, Phytochemical Screenings and Antioxidant Activity Test of Kratom Leaf Ethanol Extract (Mitragyna speciosa Korth) Using DPPH Method‘ sought to determine the antioxidant properties of Kratom, and ultimately found that Kratom has very strong antioxidant activity.

Specifically, it was found that Kratom has an IC50 value of 38.56 micrograms/ml, with IC50 being the concentration required to scavenge 50% of DPPH radicals. Basically, a lower IC50 value means a substance has stronger antioxidant properties, and in the case of Kratom, this IC50 value is far lower than blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and açaí berries, meaning Kratom has far stronger antioxidant properties than well-known antioxidant fruits.

In-fact, Kratom is in the strongest possible antioxidant category, with the cutoff being an IC50 value below 50 microgram/ml.

What this means is that Kratom lowers oxidative stress in the body, preventing damage to cells, and in-turn likely preventing diseases. Basically, biochemical processes in the body produce free radicals, which react with cells in the body and cause damage, causing inflammation and serious diseases like heart disease, cancer, Parkinson’s, arthritis, etc.

Antioxidants, like Kratom, neutralize the free radicals in the body, helping to prevent all these diseases. In-fact, even aging is directly linked to free radicals and oxidative stress, so it is possible that the antioxidant properties of Kratom can help prevent aging.

Although scientific studies are needed to prove that Kratom mitigates/prevents all of the diseases related to oxidative stress, and possibly aging, the science is quite simple. Kratom has powerful antioxidant properties, meaning Kratom neutralizes free radicals in the body and prevents oxidative stress, likely mitigating all the diseases and conditions which are caused by free radicals and oxidative stress.

Thus, the next time you think about how you have been healthier ever since you started taking Kratom, and how you barely ever get sick, it might have something to do with Kratom’s powerful antioxidant properties.
